"I don't have time."

One of the most common reasons why clients don't feel like they can build healthy habits is because they don't think they have the time. However, it's important to emphasize that even small changes can be beneficial and that there are many strategies you can use to make the most of limited time.

First and foremost, it's important to focus on quality rather than quantity when building new habits. Instead of trying to do a lot in a short amount of time, focus on doing something well every day. This could include taking 10 minutes for mindful breathing or stretching, or cooking a healthy meal instead of ordering takeout. As long as you're consistently engaging in this behavior and making progress towards your goal over time, it will count.

Another helpful tip is to break down larger goals into smaller, more tangible, steps. Instead of trying to do everything at once, focus on one small task each day or every other day. This could be as simple as drinking a glass of water before breakfast or taking the stairs instead of the elevator.

Finally, it's important to find ways to make healthy habits more convenient. Look for opportunities throughout your day where you can easily incorporate these activities. For example, if you're already running errands, why not walk a few extra blocks and get in some exercise? Or if you're already watching television, use a set amount of commercial time for stretching or bodyweight exercises like squats and pushups. Better yet, if you find yourself aimlessly watching hours of television after work, why not go to the gym and workout - this only needs 1-1.5 hours. That's the length of the episode of Greys Anatomy or Stanger Things you were going to watch!

By taking small steps towards a healthier lifestyle, you can gradually build healthy habits and achieve lasting results. Don't get discouraged if it's difficult at first; with time and consistency, you will start to see significant progress.
